Rebecca and Becky,
(Pardon me if you received another email saying basically the same thing.
Something went haywire and I couldn't tell if the last one went through.)
I couldn't remember how to upload my work onto the wiki - because I'm an
idiot - so I'll need another tutorial tomorrow. In the meantime, I've
attached my "brief" definition of folksonomy for you to read. As it
turned out, there was scant consensus on the meaning of the term among
critics and proponents, and formulating my definition took a lot longer
than I anticipated. It still needs work, and a lot of pearing-down and
reformatting for presentation purposes, but I think it's a solid start. I
hope you do, too.
By tomorrow I'll also have a pretty good webliography relating to steve
and folksonomy, an annotated list of examples of folksonomy, and the best
"compelling argument in favor of steve" that I can come up with.
Lastly, pay attention to the end of my definition, where I quote Wikipedia
regarding the idea of a "collabulary" (collaboration between catalogers
with controlled vocabularies and users with informal tags); I think it's
something we could include in our climactic, hallucinatory, power-pointed
vision.
See you at five.
Mike
