Terrific! I agree. The topic is very interesting and I really look forward to this presentation.

I think this is highly relevant to work in collection development.

A wiki! Too cool! I will visit it right now.

This of course reminds just how much a ‘digital immigrant’ I am…

Subject: Group Project Topic

Dear Prof. Genco,

Rebecca, Mike and I wanted to let you know that we will be working together for the Group Project on current collection management issues in Museum Libraries. We met yesterday evening to discuss our plans and decided that we would like to focus on digital image collections, addressing the new phenomenon of social tagging and folksonomy in art museums.

A professionally executed catalog record may be very good, but it is not necessarily understandable to its audience, and might not meet their needs. How will changing the way people search end up changing the way collections are maintained and developed?

While there are collection development aspects to this topic, and we think the topic is really interesting, we want to ask whether or not you think this is an appropriate topic--is it relevant enough to the class?

ALSO: We have started a project wiki--please stop by!

Thanks!

Becky
